More than 620 young people and over 200 volunteer leaders came together for an unforgettable weekend of celebration, adventure and Scouting spirit at National Forest Adventure Farm, as the county marked two major milestones in Scouting history.
Hosted within Burton District, the County Beaver and Cub Birthday Party Weekend celebrated 40 years of Beaver Scouts and an incredible 110 years of Cub Scouts, bringing together groups from across both the District and wider County for a fun-filled weekend packed with activities, laughter and memories.
The event transformed the National Forest Adventure Farm into a vibrant hub of Scouting activity, with young people enjoying an action-packed programme of entertainment, adventure and celebration. With hundreds of excited Beavers and Cubs on site, the weekend was filled with energy, enthusiasm and no shortage of fun, noise and organised chaos — everything you would expect from a large-scale Scout celebration.
Groups from across Burton District were well represented, joining fellow Scouts from around the County to celebrate the lasting impact both sections have had on generations of young people. For many attendees, the weekend offered not only the chance to take part in exciting activities but also an opportunity to make new friendships and experience Scouting on a much larger scale.
A dedicated team of Young Leaders, many of whom regularly volunteer within Beaver and Cub sections, also played an important role in making the event a success. Throughout the weekend, they supported activities, assisted leaders and helped provide entertainment, bringing enthusiasm and energy while showcasing the valuable contribution young volunteers make within Scouting.
The District’s Explorers were equally instrumental behind the scenes, taking responsibility for managing the event’s car parking operations. Tasked with coordinating the arrival and departure of hundreds of vehicles, they ensured traffic disruption was kept to a minimum while maintaining a strong focus on safety and organisation.
Their professionalism, teamwork and calm approach under pressure drew praise from organisers and venue staff alike, with their performance proving so impressive that they have already been invited back to support future events at the Adventure Farm.

The energy, enthusiasm and sense of community across the entire event was outstanding, and it was fantastic to see so many young people creating memories that will stay with them for years to come.”
The weekend served as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact Scouting continues to have, inspiring young people through adventure, friendship and skills for life.
