Being a leader within the Scout Association you make a commitment to completing a variety of Adult Training.

Every new leader has to complete the training requirements for the Wood Badge for their current appointment. This consists of a number of modules for which both training and assessment have to be completed. Many modules can be completed online or through work books that can be downloaded from Scout HQ.

All leaders complete module 1 and module 3 or 4 (depending on the role) and module 2 – the creation of a personal learning plan to determine the remainder of the training to be completed - this is called “initial training”. After this leaders complete a selection of modules 5-38 depending upon agreed needs and the role being undertaken.

Training Resources

The resources below provide an introduction to and overview of The Scout Associations' Adult Training Scheme. They are a great source of information for any questions that you might have about training. The Training Advisers Guide and Adults Personal File also provide information about the validation criteria for each module.
